Hi everyone!
Now that I have worked on Hoshino Ai's base wig, it's time to move on to the next parts. Today we are working on the side ponytail and the hair accessories plus underskirt. Let's go!
You remember those wefts I left aside for the ponytail? Those are relevant now. Not only I have the wefts, but I also have some hairpieces I have turned into tiny wefts with the help of hot glue. I have also unraveled and straightened some pink yarn and added some tinsels to the wefts, all I now need is a hair clamp? clip? Some net fabric and rubber band.
the stuff
First I sewed the two net pieces together. After that I adjusted the elastic on the net and folded the edges around it, then stitched it again! After that I could finally sew the wefts on to it. Putting the ones with hot glue to the bottom and building up from there.
The net, almost sewn
I started sewing wefts ~❤
The final piece attached to the other side to cover up that net line.
After the sewing I shaped the hairpieces with heat tools, aka my trusty straightener. Basically what I did was press that last weft sewn on the other side and pressed it so that lays nicely with the other wefts while still covering the edge. I didn't want any net fabric to show through. Then I made holes for the hair clips claws (?) and added that to the mix. Then finally pulled the elastic so that it was nice and tight around the clip! :3
This is what it looks like styled and tightened, I still could tweak it a little ^^''
It's a functioning ponytail! :D
Now that my wig is complete, let's add accessories! Ai has this cute bunny hair ornament on her hair, plus 2 stars! :3
I started with the bunny by making a simple pattern on paper. My fabric of choice was this white fleece material.
The bunny's head stuffed and sewn
Embroidered a little face on it :3
Placing the ribbon and that white fabric
From behind
I glued the ribbons to their place with hot glue and glued a white strap of that same fabric. I was about to add an elastic to the it, but that fleece band was enough. I could slip it through the clip ponytails claws. The stars were little trickier to work on. I originally was supposed to make them out of crystal worbla, but I have already packed them and I didn't feel like digging them from my new home. Instead I made them out of hot glue, painted them yellow and finished them with light glittery chrome nail polish. I'm going to remake them again later on, but for now they have to do.
Yeeah, it works.
The underskirt I made out of curtains, which were mauled by dog and whatever scrap fabric I found from my storage. No progress pics sadly, but have the finished product! ^^''
Shitty mirror pic, but it has to do
Sorry for messy apartment and for lack of progress pics, I've been busy with moving and renovating. It's been hectic.
I also want to add the white socks here. I ended up buying them, but I stitched them to shorts that match my skintone. This way I don't have to keep pulling them back up all the time.
I will probably make the socks myself later, since the bought ones are soooo thin, I'm pretty sure they're not gonna last a full day at a con. I hope they do though!
They look soooo silly!
You can barely tell they're white :'D
This is it for now. Next time we're gonna make the actual visible parts of the costume, so stay tuned for that! Bye for now!
