Hypecon 2025 Summary!

 Hi everyone!

Hypecon was held last weekend (7.-8-6) at Hyvinkää. I've never been to Hypecon before and Don is on Summer vacation, we decided to check it out, since I also had that weekend off. We left on Friday afternoon once I got off of work (I might have sneaked out a little earlier~) and my brother looked after our home and cat and drove us to and from the train station, biggest thanks to him!

My cat wanted to come with I guess. :'D

I cosplayed Aurora from Sleeping Beauty on Saturday, which fit very well the theme "Dreams". I didn't practice makeup at all prior, but I had a rough idea what I wanted it to look like and I think I did pretty ok! :3

Felt cute!

The con was held in Hyvinkään Kaupungintalo plus some surrounding buildings. The outside area was huge and had some very pretty parks nearby. Next time I'll bring a picnic blanket!

There were also these very useful maps around the con.

Info

Dealer's Hall/Artist's Alley was all in this one building.

This robot-box-cat carrying some bracelets.

While Hypecon is a free convention, they still handed out these rubber bracelets on Saturday and Sunday to track how many congoers there was on both days. This year was a record of 12,300 congoers btw! Also with these bracelets you could get deals in some places that sponsor Hypecon. (most of these were food places, but as you know läskillä on aina nälkä :3))

There were different colors to choose from, I grabbed these.

Our only main event in this con was the first finnish Manzai-competition hosted by Gen Takagi. There was also a drawing panel with SilliS, but that was sadly cancelled due to sickness. We were a little dissappointed, but these things happen. Always prioritize health!
Back to manzai. There were five groups of two people performing their manzais and three judges. I had a very surface-level idea of what manzai actually is, but all that was explained very well before the actual competition started. All seats were taken, but we got to sit on the lowest stairs in front, this was very nice of the con staff to let us in! Missing this would've been so sad.

Gen Takagi!

Comedy formats, manzai is basically a funny converstation performed by two or more people.

The judges

I think Finland's first manzai competition was a success story! All the groups were funny and the winning prize went to the right duo. I had to fix my eyeliner for laughing so hard I teared up a bit! :'D Which is a positive thing in a comedy show! XD I hope to see this come back again.

The winning duo was OHO!

After manzai and fixing my makeup I asked Don to snap some pics of my Aurora cosplay in the nearby park, just a little outside of the con area. ^^

The basket I carried wasn't accurate to the movie, but it could hold my phone and snacks, so that's neat!

Outside the con building(s) was food courts with Hypecon specials. We decided to give Hypecon drink (orange-passion fruit juice with ice) a try and a Hypecon special hot dog.

Food court, lot's of places to sit!

Nomnomnom

It was a good enough snack before heading to the gaming rooms. There was also some newer TTRPG's to try. I personally didn't play them, but wanted to hear more about some of them and got some good resources to start from. One was called Trench Crusade, which I was already a little familiar with. ^^

Blood Brawl trophy! :D

"Do not touch the table without permission"

Cool minis!

Some retro consoles, I gave CTR a try (or two) :D

Retro-console room, there were rooms for PS and XBOX also, but those were always full.

Don played a little while of this Simpsons-game.
Some guy asked him if he has played this game before, Don beat his record apparently. XD

We didn't plan to see any other programs for the day, but I kinda wanted to see this Love Live idol show by Erichi before heading to get some food and sleep. Erichi sang songs from Love Live µ's generation while cosplaying Nozomi! It was nice to vibe with the music of my favorite Love Live gen (so far at least, I'm still catching up).☆

Nozomi best girl!

When we left the show we found this backdrop of Hypecon's mascots, Don snapped a quick photo of me. :3

After all that we headed to get some food from Sushi House buffet and went back to our hotel room for sauna and a couple drinks (plus packing).

Rappio-rimpsessa

As usual for me, there isn't much to say about Sunday. We packed most of our stuff the night before and went to con once more. We did walk around Dealer's Hall/Artist's Alley on Saturday, but did our actual shopping on Sunday. I bought some earrings from artists plus a t-shirt and Don bought a Digimon DVD set and Pokémon cards! A good haul and easy to carry home. ❤
I had a lot of fun in this convention and most likely will come back next year if I can't be bothered with Desucon's ticket hell. I would also like to point out and praise some of the younger cosplayers! I saw a Miku cosplayer with a paper wig and some Demon Slayer cosplayers with crocheted costumes! These were so cool to see and I just love different mediums and creativity! Can't wait for Nekocon! >w< Until next time!

  1. Omg Hypecon actually sounds and looks amazing! I'm surprised they had a celebrity like Gen Takagi there, would definitely have enjoyed seeing him live! And the SilliS thing sounded like it would have been awesome too, too bad it was cancelled but such a hype idea! :'D Probably will have to put Hypecon in the "plan to visit" list, looks like there was plenty of quality content with all the retro game rooms and stuff! Crazy amount of visitors too, I thought it was a tiny con. xD
