Desucon Frostbite 2025 Summary

 Hi everyone!

Desucon Frostbite was held 24.-26.1 in Lahti as always. The competition for tickets was tight and we didn't get those in the initial ticket sale. Luck was on our side with the cancellation ticket sale though and Don getting the Friday off. Our trip started on Thursday evening by train, my brother was nice enough to not only drive us to train station, but also look after our daughter (cat). Biggest thanks to him!

Dundundunnn

The ticket exchange started at 15.00 and Sibeliustalo opened its doors at 17.00(?), so we basically had the whole day to chill. Before I put myself in cosplay costume, we walked around the city first. I don't think we've ever gotten a chance to take a proper look around Lahti before and now I even learned how to use public transport! :'D We barely have public transport where I live, so this was very new to me!

After walking around, having something to eat and such, we went back to our hotel room, where I put on my Fern cosplay from Frieren. The costume was super easy to throw together and was also very comfortable to wear. I had better lenses for her, but they arrived literally right after I stepped into the train, because of course they would! XD My package was in Helsinki/Vantaa forever! Anyway, since we got into the con a little early, we decided to go see the opening show. I always missed it in every Desucon, so it was nice to finally see what it was like.

Program booklet.

Ticket.

Lil mirror selfie, we didn't take any proper photos.

They introduced the guest of honor, Tsubasa Yonaga (voice of Jude from Tales of Xillia!)

The opening show was fun and Tusbasa Yonaga was super excited to be there too, he seemed like very cool guy fr. I also loved the "evey main anime character ever" -skit, where three people acted as the stereotypical main character tropes, like the hotheaded one, the cool and analytical one and the girl. :'D It was funny!

Friday at the con was very chill one for us. We didn't see any other panels or anything, because I won an appointment at the conventions flea market! It probably sounds silly, but Friday at Desucons flea market was always chaotic, lines were super long and the flea market was crowded af, so with the appointment lottery system it's easier. The flea market would be open for everyone on Saturday and Sunday. My appointment was at 19.00, which was right at the same time the most interesting panels were held (I ended up watching them on youtube, so it's all good). The appointment was set only for that one desu-profile, so you couldn't take your friends with you, this meant that Don needed to find something else to do while I was browsing. I found Tales of Xillia for PS3, a Ducktales -game for Don and Animal Crossing hoodie.

As I'm writing this, we still haven't given this game a go yet.
Don is the biggest fan of Ducktales though.

After browsing at the flea market, we met up with some friends and tried some drinks, we ended up leaving somewhat early though. I would've loved to go chill at lounge and listen to music, but the lounge was full and we would not have any place there to sit, so hotel room it was!

Blasphemy!

Kuromi drink and kuutti kaliaaaaa~♪

Desucon beer was a collaboration with a local brewery, which was honestly pretty cool. I personally liked it, though I heard someone at the table say "Ale coq is better". :'D It was nice and light and right up my alley! I don't often drink beer except the couple specific ones, so I really am not the best to judge. Don wasn't the biggest fan though, but it was drinkable for him. ^^

Another selfie before moving on!

On Saturday I actually missed the guest of honor's q&a, since it was held quite early (at that point I was still putting on my cosplay costume), same thing was with "how to be a good loser at cosplay competitions" panel, which I watched on youtube afterwards, it was well constructed and the jokes landed very well. I cosplayed p3 Lili from Tekken 8 btw.

The usual Metsähalli pic.

Right after we got coffee we went to the dealer's hall and Artist's Alley. Sticker Rally, familiar from Tracon, was also held here, so of course we took part in it. There were less artist's this time, but that was totally fine by us, I just love collecting stickers! ^^

The prize!

And the stickers! These are so cool! :3

The only panels we saw for the day was "friendship between men" and "this is worse than hentai!". I thought I took pictures of the friendship panel, but apparently I didn't. The panel is up on youtube as well and Yle made an article about it! We saw Yle car drive towards Subeliustalo on our way there, so I guess it was to be expected! :'D
The hentai panel was the last panel for Saturday and it was about those "teen romance" manga you can find at japanese bookstores. They are literally the same as any hentai, but because they're categorized for teens or women, it doesn't count?? Yeah it's weird. The panelist warned us that the panel will ruin not only our chilodhood, but also adulthood, plus recommended we get something to bleach our eyes with. This was not exaggerated at all! :'D Still managed to get manga recommendations in all of this.

Ooooh boy!

Please read Rose Garten Saga.

Don also snapped a couple photos of my Lili cosplay. Honestly I wasn't really feeling it and I'll probably repurpose that dress (or the fabrics of it) for something else. The sewing work was ok ig, but it's not really accurate to the references. Plus it didn't help that the feathers kept shedding everywhere! Even after I vacuumed the trim! My lenses were not right ones for her either and I forgot one of my socks and had to buy new ones! Nothing went right with this I fear and I should've just worn Fern again. Ok, I'm done complaining. :'D My wig was also too short and wrong shade of blonde, ok now I'm done! Things don't always work the way we want.

The only decent pic. :'D

Quality sucks, but here you go!

Really liked the lights!

While waiting for panels we spent a good amount of time playing games.

Overall I enjoyed Desufrost. I might've been a lil uncomfy with my costume on Saturday, but that happens sometimes. It didn't stop me enjoying other things and I will use the dress fabrics and trims for something else. We didn't do anything note worthy on Sunday, since we had to leave early again, so I'm gonna end this post here. I left the convention inspired by other beautiful cosplayers and their cosplays. It was also really nice to see friends I rarely see otherwise. People have been sick after the con so I hope for a fast recovery for everyone!

Literally me when I got back home. :3
I still love Lili so much and will make her P1 outfit.
